A very short video, but it gives an excellent representation of the feeling of riding a drop tower. Apocalypse at Drayton Manor was voted “Britain’s Scariest Ride” and has three different forms of seating: one is the normal sit down; another is stand-up position (the world’s only stand-up tower drop until 2005 when the Hurakan Condor opened in Port Aventura) and the last one is a stand-up floorless (which was introduced in 2002 and is known as the ‘Fifth Element’). Standing 180 feet tall, you’ll experience 4g as they decelerate after falling 54 m in 4 seconds.

This ride doesn’t seem like it drops quickly, but has a fantastic view at 72 meters (236 feet) high. It also only carries 12 passengers at a time, so I see a long line. However, this ride is very different.

This ride is amazing! It is a slow drop tower, mixed with a swing ride. The act that the ride goes up, down, up, down, up, and down again. The ride also slowly spins! This ride is unlike anything I’ve seen before.

Sling Shot at Family Kingdom, Myrtle Beach

There’s nothing particularly exciting about this video of the Sling Shot drop tower at Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach, SC. But then, there isn’t anything particularly exciting about the ride either. It’s basically a carnival drop tower permanently installed in the park. The cinematographer does let out a rather wicked laugh shortly before they launch, though.
